[RC] Prophet's Thumbprint - k s swigart

Heidi Larson said:

It is said that he
pressed his thumb into their necks, marking them.
Horses with thumbprints are thought to be good
horses.

Whereas in reality it is probably caused by some kind of blunt force
trauma to the muscle. My stallion "developed" a prophet's thumbprint in
his neck after he got kicked there by an uninterested mare.

On male horses you often find them on the neck or chest (from having
been kicked). On mares you may be more likely to find such a dent in
the back end (because two mares were kicking at each other).
