I train for an accurate mileage then when the ride is
over and my GPS says 42mi I am happy to get credit
for 50mi.

But how do you know that your GPS is completely
accurate and the ride mileage is wrong? The GPS units
I've used haven't always been dead-on, due to terrain,
trail, weather, etc.
