Re: [RC] Traveling after doing back to back 25's - Laney Humphrey

I'm sure the reason you didn't get any responses was because everyone was out riding & not in front of their computers. To me, the answer has as much to do with how you feel about driving after finishing 2 days of riding. I prefer to rest that night and go home the following day, but work schedules and other aspects of life don't always allow that. If your trailer is decent, has good springs, tires and floor and if your horse has recovered well, travelling 4-5 hours after finishing a ride shouldn't be a problem for her. But it is you that is doing the driving and I wouldn't risk being too tired to make good decisions on the road.

I would really appreciate some input.

RC] Back to backs/multi days/traveling - labdoggy
This will be my mare and mines second season coming up. We did 2 CTR
s and 4 LD?s last season. We have plenty of training miles under
our belts also.
I'm needing opinions on a couple of things.

I'm planning on doing a CTR for our first ride this year and doing
back to back 25's. I would arrive at camp on Friday, ride Sat and Sun.
Now here's the question.
How many of you pack up and go home on the second day after riding
and travel say 4-5 hours?
Or do you wait until the following day to travel in
order to rest your horse?

Also. How many of you do 2 50's in a row on a multi day?
I'm hoping by the 3rd ride of the season to do a 50, and maybe by the end of the season
do a multi-day.

Any comments/suggestions/tips?

Thanks!
