Re: [RC] breeding pigeon-toed horse for endurance? - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)

Her single greatest fault is
that she toes-in in front. Would one resist breeding her for that fault?

Well, here's something everyone might find interesting. Although it's too soon to tell what the overall results are, my human phycical therapists were here to work on Tank this last Sunday. Here's a picture of the before and after of his toe-in problem that they basically made go away by doing myofascial stretches on. Today is Friday and his legs are still straight. They said about 60% of what they did to him will stick permanently.

The picture is really hard to believe but it's absolutely true. The before was taken in Aug. of 2003 and that's the way Tank ALWAYS stands and it quite true to what he looked like right before they worked on him. The after was taken 24 hours after the PT's worked on him.

I rode him yesterday 4 miles and had a pretty good ride. I'm hopeful that the PT work will pan out, since nothing else has yet.

(While you're at it, if it DOES seem like a good idea, I'll be shopping around for a good love-match for her, so ideas of a smart and steady, athletic stallion would be welcome.)

I'm prejudiced, but I do own the sire of the 2004-2005 AERC National Mileage Champion Granite Chief ... I think he is all of the above. www.spanisharabian.net
