Re: [RC] Blood work on endurance horses - Diane Trefethen

Do you guys have a full blood panel (CBC) done on your
endurance horses at the start of a ride year, to check
that all is a-ok plus have a baseline in case
something goes wrong later?

No I don't.

Unless you have reason to worry BEFORE you start the season or have a proven WEC level horse, I think a full blood panel, or any blood work for that matter, is overkill. It would be like routinely doing a full blood workup for every high schooler before the start of track season.

I'd spend the money on a higher quality hay instead.
