[RC] DWA Medina - Bruce Weary DC

I can't help but comment here. I had called Tennessee when Medina's story first appeared on RC, and she seemed like a nice person and a knowledegable horsewoman. It sounds to me like she has taken increasing levels of responsibility as events unfolded. Kudos to her for donating her sale proceeds to save another horse.
What I would hope some others would learn from this is a phrase I heard from a friend of mine 25 years ago: "If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to dine out." I have known many horse owners who scrimp and save and go without in order to have horses, but sometimes they do so at the risk of not affording *all* unforeseen responsible costs concerning horse ownership, and often other necessary household expenses may suffer as well. This is neither fair to the horses nor the person who is shouldering the added expense, as emergencies and unexpected expenses are a certainty in life. As much as I love my horses, and can't imagine life without them, I clearly recognize them as a recreational luxury, and accept full financial responsibility for all aspects of their care (and disposal), as well as my other expenses. I'm so glad Medina found a home. We support our local rescue groups regularly with donations, and it provides us with a very good feeling. Dr Q
