[RC] Marwari horses - Donna O'Gara

I was in India for New Years and I rode some marwari
horses and loved them. The problem is it's nearly
impossible to import them. The Indian government
doesn't want them to leave and the US government won't
easily let them through quarantine (long boring
story). There are only a few -- maybe 10 or 15? in the
US.

They would probably be phenominal endurance horses.
The ones I met had problems getting along with each
other, but I don't know how much of it was inborn and
how much learned. We had to keep about a third of them
away from the others or they'd kick, and they were
accurate kickers. They also weren't very personable,
but that too could be learned behavior.

They aren't all gaited, but I understand most are. I
didn't get a chance to experience the gaits. The ears
are marvelous.

Donna
