RE: [RC] [RC] half chaps - Ranelle Rubin

Jen,

I have used all kinds, and personally prefer the ultra suede ones made by TuffRider. They are velcro, but a long wide strip up the entire leg instead of horizontal single strips. I liked the pair I had so well after 2 yrs of hard use, that I went in search of another pair for when these eventually wear out. You can throw them in the wash, hang em up to dry and they look brand new. They are light and not hot.

www.equestriancollections.com has them. They are called UltraGrip and are only $36. I find them to last a long time, and be comfortable as well.

Good luck!

Ok, I have another question. I modified my western saddle with center-fire rigging and removed my western fenders and replaced with 2" biothane straps. I love it so far, but realized after almost 10 miles that the sheepskin covering the stirrup straps is not enough protection. I need half chaps. My question is what kind? Neoprene or leather? Long Riders has theirs on sale but, a friend said don't get the ones with the velcro, they don't hold up. So, I know there will be a million opinions on this, but I'll wade through them, anyways.
Thanks in advance,
Jen M. and Banjo
