[RC] horse eating and drinking - sandy . l . holder

On training rides when I first got my nervous nellie Tally (he wouldn't eat or drink 'cause something might eat him). . . I took Mrs. Pastures cookies.  When he ate or drank, I'd give him a cookie.  It finally got to the point where he'd take a quick sip and look for his cookie, at which point 'mom' had to tell him he needed to drink a bit more.  4 years later, it's a no brainer - including that I no longer carry cookies. . . Give them plenty of time on the trail (I hand walked him in the scary woods the first 2 months while he shook like a leaf, then 2 months of walking while on his back and 'sitting' the spooks and progressed from there. . . the rest is history).

Good luck!
Sandy and Tally
