RE: [RC] convention report - Bob Morris

Good question and one that should be the topic of much
debate.

Any one care to start things off? We then can have a
spirited time that will be quite productive.

The sessions which made the biggest impression on me
were Denny Emerson's 2 lunchtime presentations. He is
a world renowned horseman but a plain speaker and
extremely entertaining. Some of his points to us
included the reminder that a house divided cannot
stand. The bickering that we do re: FEI vs AERC, LD
vs endurance blah blah blah is not helping us grow the
organization and our influence over the
direction of the sport.

Chris, I think Denny's comments were spot-on when it
comes to the bickering within AERC.

As an organization we need to just knock it off! They
are pointless debates that do nothing for the
organization.

Instead we need to focus those energies where they can
do some good. The population of the US is growing and
we are loosing access to lands at an ever increasing
rate. Instead of bickering internally we need to
focus those energies to do some good for the future of
our sport.

Where do we want to be as a sport in 20 years?

Cheers, Pete in TX
