RE: [RC] Vet-ish Advice - Rae Callaway

What were the physical manifestations of him breaking a sinus? Just the
bloody nose? My boy, General, attacked a trailer when he was 3 and broke
his forehead. For about 3 weeks he had a jibbah that would make the halter
show people drool! When the swelling went down, he had a pretty deep dent
in his dish - maybe about 3/4 - 1 inch deep in the center? Other than a
slight predilection to respiratory infections, it hasn't affected him any.
It does scare me a little to realize how close he came to killing himself,
but now it's just a conversation piece. I do have a friend that shows and
she keeps asking me when I'm going to get a silicone implant to fill the
hole in. <g> I told her we'll think about it when he gets his SAG card,
'cos that's what those Hollywood types do!

Having just had a gelding whack himself on the forehead on a pole and
break a sinus, I could suggest that but it would leave him with a
bloody nose. Maybe he just whacked hard enough to cause it to
swell. Horses are so bloody inventive.
