Re: [RC] Vet-ish Advice - rides2far

Angie- Have you got ANY KIND of plants/shrubs in the pastures with
thorns? Is it possible he got a thorn imbedded in the heel bulb and
broke it off?

There's some sort of Crab Applish trees with long thorns, but he didn't
have much of a reaction to pressing on the bulb. The little bit of dried
blood was gone by the time the farrier came. If I hadn't seen it earlier
I'd have never known anything was wrong in that area. I honestly worried
he might have impaled something right up through the foot and out the top
of the bulb. >shudder< Once a long time ago he went lame during a ride,
a long way from the trailer. A tiny nick on the coronary started oozing
after a day or so and I got it x-rayed and there was a stick like the
point of a golf tee broken off in his foot. He wasn't nearly as lame as
this then! Kaboot's only had maybe 2 abcesses in 12 years of
competition. (I can only remember one really) so that's not common for
him.

So...any thoughts at all on the swelling between the eyes????

Angie
