I have a p/b Arab who looks like a Yak. I have stopped riding him
after I get home from work because it takes so...long for him to dry
then I spend the rest of the night worring he's going to catch a chill.

Don't clip, don't blanket, just ride. A horse that is out 24/7 gets wet every time it rains. Be sure he's cool when you untack (walking the last 20 minutes of your ride should accomplish that), then lightly fluff his coat where the saddle was.
