[RC] LD Rides - Endurance - Dressage - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I have used the subject that I originally used in my first post. It appears
many have not understood what I was trying to say. This entire discussion grew
out of a post that compared endurance with dressage and reporting of
performance not BC. Prior to that thread were numerous threads regarding
endurance (racing/riding)nad prior to that there have been discussions
regarding LDs. I still contend that LD riders are treated differently in the
west region than they are elsewhere and many LD riders find that disrepectful.
I posted what I believe are the AERC LD rules that are relevent. I posted the
BC rules simply because they refer to the rules regarding placement and
recording of times. I presented the DG ride as an example because I happen to
have the original submissions that were given to AERC which showed placements
and times that were inaccurate. They were provided to me by the AERC office. I
was asked by a group of LD riders to prepare a draft protest for them and
needed accurate records to do so. I believe that one of AERCs role is to
maintain accurate records. I also believe that the methodology of reporting
results should not be at the discretion of any ride manager. I believe that for
a national organization there should be consistent standards nationwide and the
AERC LD rules provide that framework. I also have a vested interest in seeing
AERC grow not split or create dissenion.

All that being said I knew that raisning this issue would open me to being
flamed. I certainly didn't expect to be as vehment as it has been. Surely this
is an emotional issue with many on RideCamp. But I have the right to my opinion
also. Certainly no one has presented a good argument as to why LD times in the
west region should NOT be recorded accurately and with actual placements and
times. BCs do not have to be given in ANY ride so that is not the issue. Please
try to focus on why LD riders should be treated differently in the way their
efforts are recorded. I still contend that this is a major sore point with many
LD riders. I am sure this issue will come up at convention. Leave your emotions
at the door and focus on the issue. Kat may be right that some ride managers
might decide not to offer LD rides. This was threatened by the ride manager at
DG. I don't think that a solution offered in response of organizing an
independent LD ride on the same day (on public land) would be a healthy
approach but it could come to that if enough people are not satisfied with the
way things are run now. That is why I referenced the NRCHA/ NSHA split where
they now offer competing show on the same day. Please tell me why reporting
accurate times and placements is so distatseful to so many of the vocal members
of RideCamp.
