RE: [RC] Silver Star frame/bracing... what gives?!?!? - Mike Lewis

Thank you, David. Good information--I've been looking into this, myself.

I certainly wish that LQ "kits" were available. It just isn't worth
$10,000+ to have someone else install living quarters, when all it would
really take is a "how-to" guide, lots of patience, some time, and very
little else. If I could install LQ that were on par with what the "pros"
install, parts-wise, for about half the cost, I'd order today!! I think
it could be done if someone had startup money, an entrepreneurial spirit,
and time.

Mike - What I did is to use a shower/toilet pan that came with a flat
blackwater
tank mounted beneath the toilet. It raises the toilet off of the floor
level about
6 inches but that doesn't matter because access to it is in the shower.
That
let me drill a hole through the floor for the outlet (3-1/2" ???) .
Then it just sat
on top of the floor. Hardest part was arranging a vent pipe. My sink
also goes
into the blackwater tank. I've not had a problem with lack of capacity.
  The
shower drain goes to a separate outlet into the greywater tank. The
whole
thing fit in the corner that was otherwise not very usable because of
the angle
of the slant wall. It would have been a real pain to have to cut under
the bottom
skin to mount a blackwater tank. Oh, I also bought one of those blue
tanks
with wheels to use for extra storage and transfer to the dump station
when needed....

The whole point of that is to minimize stuff hanging under the trailer.
 It is bad
enough just having an outlet with a valve. There were a couple of
camping/riding
places where I went this year that would have caused me to rip an
under-floor tank
right off the trailer..

I have an '02 Silver Star and was wondering how I'd install the black
water tank. I'm wondering even more, now.
The bottom of the trailer, beneath all the flooring, doesn't have
crossmembers in the traditional sense. Silver Star used some other
method
of bracing the floor. Not sure how to describe it, but I see no
possible
way to mount a black water tank under the trailer between frame
supports.
