RE: [RC] Breeds - melanie . o>Paints are tobiano, overo and tovero patterned horses of Quarter Horse
>breeding. Pinto's are the same coat patterns of any other breeding or >mixture of breeds. More specifically, a Paint must have the following: A registered Paint parent and a registered QH parent or a registered TB parent. To be eligible for full registration, it must exhibit mixed color characterisitics which consist of any white spot on the body larger than a quarter, white above the knees, and/or white beyond the eyes or lips. Horses who do not exhibit these color characteristics, but who have at least one registered Paint parent and either a registered QH or TB parent are eligible to be registered as breeding stock.
A "cropout" is a horse with no registered Paint parent who exhibits the above color characteristics and is of registered QH and/or TB breeding. It is also eligible for full registration.
A Pinto is be a horse of any breeding, including unknown, that exhibits the same color characteristics. The only requirement for registration is mixed color.
