[RC] Cameras and moisture - April

If you buy a camera from Wolf Camera (Ritz Camera), you can purchase their extra (not extended) warranty that will replace the camera pretty much no matter what happens to it. Drop it in the creek; horse steps on it; whatever. Cost is about $25/year for a $100 camera and goes up from there. You just have to have the camera and the serial number must be readable (so jump in the creek and fish it out!), but it's a pretty generous repair/replacement policy. Got that on mine and my husband's cameras and I take mine on horseback without worrying that I'm going to ruin it.

I got just the one year warranty. I figure if I haven't destroyed it in a year, I'm careful enough with it. :-)

PS Be sure to read the fine print on your own; don't just go by this message!

While I can appreciate that a person would rather not depart with that kind of
money, where is the savings if, the first time you go out, you have to cross a
river and the camera gets soaked?
