RE: [RC] What's your occupation? - heidi

I'm curious as to what you all do for a living that allows you to take so much time off from work to compete.

It was much easier to regulate my schedule when I was in veterinary practice and was self-employed.  I am now a full-time pastor, and consequently have to be back home and in the pulpit on Sunday mornings, which means I have to drive home from rides in the middle of the night.  I used to be better at that sort of thing when I was younger...  At this early point in my second career, I only have two vacation Sundays, and the past two years have used those for AERC convention and PNER convention.  Will have to get creative next year, as will have to work in a Sunday off for the AERC mid-year board meeting, since I'm once again on the AERC board.

We also had to have a crew for 40 miles and over. If you were found in breach of this you were dq'd so it was hard finding friends willing to give up time to crew.

My hubby is from Denmark, and that is the norm over there as well.  He MUCH prefers the system here where RMs tend to take your stuff out to "away" vet checks.
