Re: [RC] Medical Helicopters - Chris PausOh, trauma centers, that's a whole nother topic!
I got sent to one becuase I had a head injury. I know I would have gotten better care at our local hospital ER.
The ER doc at the trauma center sent me for a CT scan and then declared, after about 4 hours, that nothing was wrong with me and I could go home.
The nurses were only worried about if I was a spousal abuse victim. I asked one of the nurses to please clean up the blood on my face. She handed me a tray of wet gauze and told me to do it myself!
I knew I had more than soft tissue injury. I had never had a broken nose before, but have had other broken bones. There is no mistaking what a broken bone feels like.
Two days later, I went ot my family practitioner who looked at me, looked at the hospital report, and said, "I don't believe this report."
He sent me for xrays and a half hour later showed me the fracture that started where the nose meets the forehead. clear as day in the xray.

Life Flight or EMT, unless I am dying. And yes, I agree with Chris...that riding miles in an ambulance, strapped onto a board, is misery. Want to start your own business? Learn how on Yahoo! Small Business.
