It's also about what is safe for the youngster. I'd want my child to be handling a SAFE horse, so I would advise buying a safe broke horse. Then the child could take the horse on and teach him the finer details of life. Saddle training an unbroke horse is not easy, nor is it safe for the inexperienced. Of course, a lot of kids have saddle-broke horses for ages. I'm just the cautious type.

It's not about buying a made horse or a trainer doing everything except ride the sucker in a show. It is about what is right for the horse.
