RE: [RC] [RC] opening gates? - Juli JakubYour tall!!! I never made 5'1" officially although I always say that I am 5'1" as I am close enough and who the heck can tell. Lots of things that are hard for short people... top shelves, hitting the piniata, cars that drivers seats just don't go high enough to see over the steering wheel!!...some things like jockeying race horses I never would have been able to do unless I was short. I consider it a blessing. I can tack up even the big showjumping and dressage monsters easily. And just for a different perspective being an eastcoaster and an eventer I never saw a gate or fence that didn't want to be jumped so I have never actually attempted to open one from horse back. We also have no barb wire fences...Of course I had a little TB mare that would jump anything up to 5 ft. tall easily and loved cross country. My little Morab has less pop I think ( although she did jump 4 and a half feet to get out the pasture one time) so I may have to give in and figure out how to open and close gates from horseback. I grew at an only age, and then just suddenly stopped, barely making it at five foot five. I'm at a scrawny age too, and my dad laughs at me when I struggle to cinch up my Aussie saddle. I hate those English cinches!
