Re: [RC] Camping at rides - Diane Trefethen

Hi Chelsea,

They say the best way to learn something is to do it. With that in mind, I suggest you volunteer to take pulses at a nearby Endurance ride. Plan to arrive around 3pm on Friday, check in with the RM, offer to help with the Vetting In. Find a place to park your truck and/or pitch your tent, check out all the different rigs and camping choices, hit the vendor(s) to see what goodies are there. Strike up conversations with people and when you find a new friend, ask if you can join them for dinner Friday (you'll have brought your own food, of course).

Saturday morning ride management will take you to the vet check you'll be working. The person in charge of P&R's will show you where you need to be and if you are uncertain about your pulse-taking prowess, pair you up with a more experienced hand. While you are "working", you'll meet all kinds of riders and equines and see various kinds of tack and equipment.

You'll meet new friends, see how others "camp" and have a blast!

Good luck and have FUN!
