[RC] loose manure--worms - Dawn Simas

Thank you for the advice.  RE:  Sand colic, I did use EquiAid on her for one week just in case, no change in the loose manure.  But the wormer advice is a good point.  I am doing the Purge on both my horses just in case, I hope that this will solve it.  My next questions:

1)  So, I *should* use wormer regularly then to prevent the first stage of these encysted worms?  I had read that we overmedicate our horses with wormers in Trail Rider and Perfect Horse magazines, they recommend just doing fecal tests instead.

2)  Since my dogs enjoy the doggie pleasures of "manure munching"...and assuming that without the wormer meds for the last 6 months, they may have shed into the manure...  Do I test/worm my dogs?  Or do these worms not affect carnivores?

Thank you everyone for the great advice!
Dawn
