I've done it, and blown out the rear window in the cab because I forgot to check carefully when making a sharp turn. I was told to mount the hitch right in front of the rear axel for best weight distribution but that brings the gooseneck even closer to the cab. If the trailer is really heavy and long, the weight and length ratio between the truck and trailer wouldn't be good which could cause safety (braking) concerns.
