[RC] Got my first horse!! - Spottedracer

Now before we start beating her up about purchasing a youngster... Certain
people are BORN to ride/train - then others aren't...

Take me for example: I started riding anything people let me ride when I was
10-11years old..(Only got to ride a few times a year - but Mom said the VERY
first time I jumped on a friend's barely broke pony - I just ran-and-ran, never
fell off, never was afraid - and even yanked that pony which-ever way it didn't
want to go..) Lived in Suburbia - and parents couldn't afford lessons... At
age 16 years, I could drive, so I 'worked' at a rental horse place.. Cleaned
stalls, was a 'slave' - and was thrilled to be the outrider. Yep, we teens got
those FUN mounts - which were too dangerous to rent out... After we rode them
for a few weeks - those 'FUN mounts' got boring - because they calmed down and
wanted to be rented (instead of ridden by us crazy Teens)

At the age of 18 years - Mom couldn't control if I bought a horse or not (So I
THOUGHT..) So I saved up a little cash - and bought the only horse I could
afford..A wild-caught 8 year old Mustang gelding. Yep, totally wild - And I
TECHNICALLY had just 2 years of solid experience. I boarded him at the rental
place I worked at .. and within 2 weeks that sucker was BROKE. Granted, it was
summer - I had nothing better to do than mess with him for 8-10hours per day.

So if she's a fearless, 'natural born' trainer/rider with a year or two of
experience on not-so-well-trained horses - let her get a youngster! If she's
only got a couple years experience on older, well-trained,bombproof, lesson
horses - she may be buying too much horse...
Good luck!!! - LP
