Re: [RC] [RC] what do I think when coming off? - Jeannie Gillen

Been there, done that! In an instant, and from out of nowhere....she was 6
feet off to the side. I kept thinking how there was no possible way to get
my body going back toward the horse...I was flying! Then I saw the hard dirt
road below me and hoped I wouldn't break a hip...I remember kicking out of
my stirrups, and I think I actually landed sorta on my feet and fell on my
thigh from the momentum...I got back on, as my horse just stood there
looking at me, like what the heck are you doing down there....I rode home,
went in to get ice for my leg and discovered a hematoma (?) the size of a
grapefruit....then and only then did I feel faint and sick to my
stomach....I can deal with getting hurt, I just can't deal with looking at
it.
The bruising was UGLY....it's been 6 weeks and now I just have a lime size
lump there.

"Wow, what a ride!" Glad to hear I am not the only one who occasionally
comes off. I keep wondering if I could have stayed on a leap like that. My
partner does, but his legs are long enough to wrap around the horse...mine
aren't. There was NO warning, we were having a great fluid ride. I was just
moving WITH my horse.....until she went sideways!

I swear I have a horse that moves so fast, he has disappeared out from
under
me and reappeared 15 feet off to the side while I was still hanging in
mid-air. I felt like Wiley Coyote! I actually had time to look over at
him
way off to the side of the trail and think, "Oh. That can't be good."
