[RC] barefootvs shod - Leah McGregor

One of the things that has really helped the barefoot transition for my horse has been HoofArmor. Remel had flares that seemed impossible to get rid of, white line separation etc. We could keep shoes on him through July and then 3 yrs in a row, he would, pull, throw, chew (not really but it seemed so) any shoe, put on by anyone. I spent a sm. fortune one year with a Master Farrier trying to finish a fall ride/show season and gave up. This July when we finished a rocky 30 CTR with one shoe left and I COULD NOT TELL he lost 3 shoes (knew he had lost one but not 3) I had to ask myself why was I trying to keep shoes on him.
Any rate that began my Barefoot mission. I started using HoofArmor in August. His flares with frequent (q 2 wks) trimming and using HoofArmor to protect the sole, wall and weakened areas has been amazing. I have been really pleased with the progress he has made. Is anyone else using it?

Hoof wall separation is caused by leverage.  Eliminate the leverage and =
the
separation will go away.  A tight, healthy whiteline is the best defense
against whiteline disease and other maladies caused by a stretched, weak
whiteline (which, unfortunately, a lot of the horse population has).  =
