If he's a BLM mustang, (sounds like he is), the BLM can help you decipher the code.

It includes the year he was born, his I.D. #, and where he was gathered at. The BLM has a website, www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov, or a phone #1-866-4mustangs to get you started. The hard part is deciphering the individual figures on his neck. I have a BLM mustang, and even with his BLM paperwork depicting the marks on his neck, and the interpretation, I have a hard time comparing his neck with the paperwork.

Have fun with him, they can be wonderful.
