RE: [RC] [RC] Endurance Riding on Second Life? - Ranelle Rubin

Beverly,

I just opened second life..Looks like an adult video game. Just my opinion, but I'd rather be out in the fresh air creating a real world! Think I will go pick a fresh tomato from the garden...

Has anyone checked out Second Life, and if so, have you bought property
there?
http://secondlife.com/

Second life is a virtual world with real money transactions and is supported
by Wells Fargo, Reuters, and a soon-to-be named Fortune 10 company. (Not
Microsoft.)

One of the vendors, Electric Sheep, sells rather nice horses
 http://www.slboutique.com/index.php (Click on landscaping and
animals--Search on "horse")

While my feeling is I have enough to do in the physical world, horse-related
SL commerce is an excellent opportunity for a non-horsey, high-tech spouse,
e.g., mine. We are throwing around some ideas... One idea is to hold
endurance rides. Might be good advertisement for the real thing.

Some facts about second life
- over 1 million members - membership is free or premium
- real $US spent per day: $half million
- one person alone has made 100s of 1,000s of real US $$ selling land
(there is also the native currency, Linden Dollars, w/ a conversion factor.)
- right now there seem to be NO horses on the land masses

If anyone is interested in horse-related activities on SL, e.g. endurance
rides or buying an island for horse rescue w/ RL (real life) contributions
to RW (real world) organizations, please PM me--esp if you have a high-tech
spouse or friend from the 3-D animation or gaming industry. We bought some
starter property, are considering buying a small island.

Beverley
