RE: [RC] SR Enduro stirrup question - Smith, Dave

Sara: I tried the broomstick and wet fender approach with my then new
Synergist. The fenders did straighten out my caged stirrups, but only
temporarily. Soon, the stirrups were turning out again. So I installed
the metal devices (can't think of their names, but these are devices
that swivel the stirrup forward) and they have worked out well. They
attach with a long bolt and locking nut. I routinely check the nut for
tightness before mounting to avoid losing a stirrup at the wrong moment.
So far, no problems. Also, you'll have to readjust your stirrup length
because the metal devices extend the stirrup length about 1.5 inches --
which worked out well for me since the most comfortable stirrup length
for me was in between two of the stirrup adjustment holes. There are
other solutions that I've seen, but didn't try. One is installed on the
fender, itself, some way and twists the fender so that the stirrups face
forward -- but if my memory is correct, you have to make some holes in
the fender to attach them, which I didn't want to do. Anyway, if you're
having trouble with your stirrups facing outward and putting too much
pressure on your knees, you might give the metal things a try. Like I
said, they've worked well for me.

Subject: [RC] SR Enduro stirrup question

Hi, all! I have a quick question.... My SR Enduro fenders are still
not broken in and my stirrup angle is awkward. I want my stirrups
(caged endurance) facing straight so the torque on my knees is reduced.
It's tiring trying to keep them forward because they want to turn in.
Any suggestions? I saw a metal device you could buy that turns your
stirrups so they face straight. Anybody have any luck with it? Thank
you!

Sara
