OK- My last post on the subject.
At least your Vet has come around a little bit....
The internet isn't ALL bad.

If your horse DOES have the mane mite.
Oral paste worming may not get the consentration high
enough in the skin to kill them.  

Maybe you can talk him into giving you the liquid ivermectin for
your worming program- so that you'll have some to apply
topically to the mane when the oral route doesn't work..
