[RC] Fay - Your Vet- Mane mite - Barb Peck

Big Sigh.....
It amazes me how some people (including Vets) can be SO resistant to
a therapy that is not very expensive, has no side effects- and may alleviate an
unidentified problem
which has been existant in an animal for a long time- when the owner has tried
everything else.

Since in your case, your Vet hasn't looked at a sample under a microscope - no
one even really knows
what's going on or whether this *is* a mite.
- if it's not a mane mite- then rule that out...

My Vet would have said Yep- lets try that since we've tried everything else.

Have him call the Head Vet at the University of Mass.
Make him do the work of at least looking up the phone number.

This vet wanted to know how it had been proven that the horse had bird mites
and was highly skeptical of liquid ivermectin killing the mites, pretty much
chastised me for believing stuff off the 'Net,
