Re: [RC] truck toppers - Chris Paus

Alice,

For many years, my way to camp at rides was in the back of my Dodge Dakota. It has a small camper shell on it. I could put a twin bed mattress in the back of the truck and the shell kept my nice and dry when it rained. It wasn't perfect, but sure beat sleeping in the horse trailer or in a tent.

I'm curious how many of you have added a topper to your truck and set up
camp inside your truck bed. I would like to find a way to stay more
permenantly packed than my open stock trailer and open pick up truck
currently allow me. One person has suggested to me that I could build a bed
over the wheel well out of ply wood so that I could store things on top and
the bottom. I'm just wondering how many folks have done this. I have a half
ton pick up and won't be able to upgrade any time soon.
