I haven't found my short-bed to be unstable - we're just
thinking about getting a new truck and I always missed
the long-bed in my original 2x4 truck (which we had to
swap, needing a 4x4).

With the long-bed I could fit more hay, more building
materials, etc... in it. Last weekend I had to bring home
some 16' long 2x4 wood. That was pretty interesting with
the short-bed :(
