Re: [RC] Tailing question - Diane Trefethen

Do what they do with mules and oxen - gee and haw. Here is a link to a site that trains oxen to gee and haw:
http://www.iscowp.org/Ox%20Power/Lesson%202%20%20Gee%20and%20Haw%20by%20Balabhadra.htm

There are no spaces in the above link and it is 86 chars long.

The trainer writes with respect and affection for his oxen. Very cool!

The article is part of a set of lessons on training young oxen. The website, which is sponsored by ISCOWP (International Society For Cow Protection), also has a series of lessons on training the older oxen and that too has a lesson on "Gee" and "Haw".

PS: I noticed that when I tried to click on the links to some of the other web pages, I got a "Service Not Available" notice but then a few minutes later I could access all the site's pages. So, as a precaution, I downloaded "Lesson 2: The Commands 'Gee' and 'Haw'" in case anyone else wants it but can't access the page.

You can email me at trefATwakerobinranchDOTcom if you want/need it.

Question: my picture of tailing has the horse's tail being grasped in the
right hand and the lead rope in the left hand. Assuming this is correct,
what are the instructions used to tell the horse to go left and right?
