Re: [RC] Ride amenities (was "Patriot Day Ride") - Sisu West Ranch"..., and I only had 23 riders..." One of the harsh facts of life is that a Distance ride has very high fixed costs. Sure, some of the expenses are per rider (like sanction fees and completion awards) but many of the costs do not change between 23 riders and 100 riders. The last ride I managed had a breakeven of about 75 entries. One year we had 98 total entries (split between 2 CTR's, LD and Endurance). That year I had a $1200 (approximate) positive cash flow. I was able to donate $1000 to the park and purchase some cooking gear. The next year I had to move the ride to a different park further from the cities, and it rained. We had 60 total entries and lost about $500. Such is the joy of being a ride manager!
