[RC] Rider Drugs -Kat - k s swigart

On Friday indiancp said:

kat, while my drugs are mild compared to some
mentioned (tyonal daily, celebrex a couple of months
a year) i think it a bit unfair for you to say "if I can do
it there is no reason that other people can't as well."
until YOU have some of the conditions some of these
people have you can't fairly judge.
...
it's not short term pain that gets you down, it's the
constant never ending pain and knowing it won't get better.

And on Thursday I said:

Am I aware that there are some chronic pathological
conditions that cannot be recovered from but that can
be alleviated with the use of drugs? Yes, and in
those instances, to not use drugs to do so is just
masochistic (or sadistic if you deny them to your horse).

I am thoroughly confused. Can somebody please explain to me the
difference, in messages (obviously the words are different), between
these two statements?

Or are we in total agreement with respect to the use of drugs to treat
chronic, uncurable conditions?
