RE: [RC] Braiding the mane - Jo Ann KnightThat was the thing that struck me, how beatiful and how many likely is it that a horse would get hung up on something or in his own mane with his foot! I'd love to be able to do the braid for the heck of it but I would not want to leave the horse braided up unattended Jo Ann -------Original Message------- From: Kristen A Fisher Date: 8/15/2006 7:50:14 AM To: 'ridecamp' Subject: RE: [RC] Braiding the mane I think this lattice is also called a Russian mat. I must caution that a horse at a show a couple years ago was shown in a Russian mat and they left it in when they stalled the horse. He went to scratch his neck with a hind foot, it got caught in the mane, and down he went. I think he was OK but am pretty sure they had to cut a lot of the mane off to free him. There is a lot more surface area to get entangled in a foot/shoe with the lattice than straight braids.
