A very wonderful win for John and Heraldic, for sure!  But don't forget that Heraldic still fits the profile for Tevis pedigrees--his maternal granddam is a Babson/CMK cross, his tail female line is *Urfah (Davenport, which is CMK) and given the significant influence that Crabbet horses had on Russian breeding, Heraldic is still over 25% CMK.  To date, there has been no Arabian or part-Arabian winner of either the Tevis Cup or the Haggin Cup that has a traceable pedigree that has not been at least 25% CMK--and Heraldic continues that record!  It is amazing how those same horses from Crabbet Stud come through, even when brought forward by breeders of different nationalities, and how many of those good old Davenport mares are the tail female mares in so many successful endurance pedigrees....
