RE: [RC] Another fun "braid". - Sharon Levasseur

Here's pictures of another fun braid for you. These are from the first parade
my horse and I did:

It's not really a BRAID, per se, but it is pretty. Takes FOR-EV-ER to do.

I missed the first part of the conversation but I assume you're discussing
running braids. I did them for a whole season and while they ARE faster to
put
in and take out, they don't stay in. Not even with my horse's extremely
long
and thick mane (down past the top of his leg). I even used those little
girls'
ponytail holders with the little plastic balls down the length of it to try
to
keep it from falling out but that only helped a little bit. I've settled
on
about 7-8 long braids... seems to work best.

exactly.....what Jonni said

I did it once and it took a LOT of hair out of my horses mane when he
put
his head down to drink and eat. you have to braid loosely but not .. if
this
makes sense. ?

When I have watched the Draft horse folks do this sort of braid, they
often
sit on the horses back to do so. But, on the distance horses, I would
imagine it would be a braid that might want to pull out when they drop
their heads to eat and drink.
