...which is why so many injuries on so many young horses on the track begin in the first place - the natural load, slide, unload sequence is abruptly interrupted on the hoof and it begins.  That particular sequence, for endurance horses, will eventually strengthen the leg, if the proper time and program are employed.
 
Often, the injury goes unnoticed until it is noticed.  At that point, as much effort resulting in any sort of financial payback is employed, knowing that the "writing is on the wall".
