[RC] best way to prevent scratches?? - Pvan19

I make my own greasy mess which works better than any specific creams I've ever tried ( and much cheaper too!)  - mix half a cup of white vaseline with half a cup of  hemorroid (sp! sorry I can't be bothered to look this word up )  cream ( preparation H is the best if that exists in the US) , add 1 table spoon of sulphur powder if you can find it and fifteen drops each of lavender and tea tree essential oil

you can substitute Desitin or another zinc oxide based diaper cream for the vaseline and sulphur

works great! Antifungal, antibacterial, soothing and a "tonic" for the skin & veins  and a great barrier cream as well.. this will heal terrible swollen scratches in under a week and prevent new ones

only drawback is that pharmacist feels very sorry for me as consuming large quantities of Preparation H haha!!

Pauline ( who tried to explain that this is for the horses but that made their faces drop even more!!!)

The Desitin will do the trick...yes, you'll have a greasy mess, but that
greasiness will prevent the scratches.  It's the greasiness of the Desitin that
keeps it on there and keeps it from washing off in the water.  You can buy the
generic in large tubes and save lots of money.
