Re: [RC] easyboot opinions? - Randy or Cheryl Winter

back then they came with a little nylon loop that went
around the heel strap and attached to a bracelet type nylon piece with a
buckle that went around the horse's leg. Then when the boot fell off it
kinda flopped along and if your horse didn't bolt over the next ridge,
you could get off and put it back on. Problem was my horse stepped on it
while she was dragging it and bent the buckles on the boot damaging it.
How is the gator an improvement on the old buckle on system? I have
actually tied surveyer flagging to the boot and to my horse's leg
(loosely) hoping it would stay with him long enough for me to know it
came off but break if he paniced. Since Kaboot never lost easyboots I
never found out how well it worked.

There is absolutely no comparison between the old keeper strap and the
new gaitor. We have used Easyboots for many years and NEVER used the keeper
straps. Yes, the boots came off and we looked for them but we didn't want
to risk injury or rodeo with the old keeper strap.
The gaiters for the most part do not allow the boot to come off. I know
there are people out there who have had it happen but I can only speak from
my use of the Epics and Bares. The gaiters keep the boot on. They are not
intended to just keep the boot attached to the horse's leg after the boot
comes off. They actually help secure the boot from coming off. We take the
clip guards OFF the Epics. I feel the clip guards cause the boot to be less
stable on the hoof by pushing the sides of the boot away from the hoof. If
I don't want the clips to dig in I'll pound them down.
