Actually yes Jerry is an ultra-runner,  he is hoping to win this buckle and return it to the Western States Board.

I saw the post this morning about the WS buckle on eBay.  It was sad to
see that.  The thought of someone buying that without running the course
cheapens it for all of us who have.  Just seeing it on eBay...well,
everything is on eBay......

 I am bidding on the buckle with the plan to give it back to the Western
States board.  So if you have the same intentions please do not bid
against me. 

Who knows, maybe the weather gods will be watching and smile favorably
by turning the temperature down a notch this weekend!

Quick research, the current high bidder, Jerry Bloom is a runner.
At least
when I did a google on the name "Jerry Bloom", and the word "run", I had
hits, including he did the American River 50. Let's hope he gets the
buckle.
(I do love internet detective work, now if I could make $$$ at it)
