I am leasing a mare for breeding, reg. arabian, I have $2500 in surgical and $2500 mortality (at least I think that's what I have, it's been a few months) and it costs me apprx. $200 per year to keep insurance on the mare.  I did not have to have the mare appraised or vet inspected.
