[RC] torn magazine covers - Karen Bratcher

I've been a postal employee for 25 years.  Some years ago the mail processing plants began using automated machinery to sort the flats (magazines and other things larger than a letter) and I've seen a LOT more mags come through with torn covers, covers ripped loose from the staples, and even missing covers :-(  Also, if your magazine happens to be the one on the top or the bottom as the bundle of magazines is plastic-strapped together at the printer, the strapping really cuts into them and then if a corner catches on something it rips up against the strapping.  I used to get a huge newsprint mag called Arabian Horse Express and mine was always shredded that way.
