RE: [RC] roundbales? - heidi

We use them for all of our larger groups, and I can't imagine life without them.  There are no feeding frenzies in the large groups, and even the harder keepers stay in better shape because they have hay access 24/7.  My main caution is to put out more than one at a time if you have any groups larger than 6-8 head--we winter 25-28 mares together and usually put out 3 at a time.

In wet weather, we actually have less wastage with the round bales than we did with meal feeding, and the horses really thrive on having the hay available all the time.

We have reached the point in # of equines that I am seriously thinking about roundbales to keep cost and work down a bit.
How many of you use roundbales and what do you think about them?
