[RC] Tevis - Bruce Weary DC

Thanks, Gloria, and all other well-wishers who have emailed me privately. I bought Sugar from Gloria, who called her Summer, so she knows the horse as well as I do.
Tevis is one of the few rides where all kinds of riders send their best wishes, wish they were riding, say that they will be with you in spirit, and mention that they hope they can ride it someday. It has a mystique, and a well-deserved one at that. Not only is it a very old ride, but also a very tough and beautiful ride. I would guess the mystique comes from, among other things, the supreme challenge it represents, and what we feel and find inside ourselves as we either contemplate attempting it or prepare to attempt it. It's been said that in order to win at something, you have to not be afraid of losing. Clearly, I have shown I am not afraid of not completing the Tevis, with five failed attempts to date. So, I'm ready to see the finish line from the back of a horse.
Maynard Munger, who passed recently, told me when he got his first Tevis buckle, he wore it on his pajamas and slept with it. I'm not sure how it will look attached to my nightie, but I'm willing to try anything..............Dr Q
