[RC] Gaited Vs Arabs - JonniBruce posted: >>>Out of curiosity I looked up my ride record this morning (a nice trip down Memory Lane) and looked at my success rate riding Arabs versus that of my gaited horses. Interestingly, my completion rates are nearly identical, but I have actually placed better and have slightly faster ride times on my gaited horses overall.<<< Bruce, I am guessing you started this sport with Arabians, and then have switched to your Foxtrotters??? (that is what you have, isn't it?) So, do you think that a lot of your success with the gaited horses is also due to your experience in the sport, and your years in the sport has taught you the best management practices for your gaited horses? Shoot, if that was the case, imagine how well you would be doing if you stuck with Arabians! <wink> (It is a JOKE folks!!!! Just a joke!) Hope to see you at Tevis again. We have a couple NATRC riders heading out to Tevis this year with Foxtrotters. Experienced riders, who have done well with the horses. I, as a hard core Arabian owner and rider would LOVE to see a Foxtrotter or other gaited horse finish Tevis and be able to brag about it here. Yes, ALL breeds can do this sport. But some breeds take more management than others. Maybe some of us ride Arabians as they are easier to get ready and keep in condition. Hummmm....
