[RC] Saddles for well-sprung horses? - Kristi Schaaf

I can't BELIEVE it - I never dreamt I'd be on a saddle
search for my Arab again. Long story short -
discovered that my beloved sport saddle pinched his
big shoulders....found a western style saddle that I
liked and had the saddle maker do a bare tree fit on
my horse's back (very important to know that the tree
twist is FLAT when your horse has ribs that spring
away FLAT from the spine for a ways). All looked good,
etc etc, and when we did a lot of walking all winter
in it, all was well. But for reasons that neither I
nor the saddle maker can figure out, the saddle won't
quit sliding up my horse's neck (literally) when I
trot, canter or of course go down a hill. Thick pads,
no pads, sticky pads, wool pads...doesn't matter.
Loose girth, tight girth, center fire, back cinch,
packer girth....doesn't matter. Crupper - can you say
so much pressure under his tail that my non-bucking
horse says he just may have to buck if I don't get off
his shoulders. Rider on or off, doesn't matter! So,
here I am again, needing a saddle. PLEASE HELP! If you
ride a VERY well-sprung, DEEP shouldered,
perfect-back-to-look-at Arab (or other breed), tell me
what you use. I don't care if it's western, engligh,
or built on Mars...if it fits my horse and my butt,
I'll sell my soul for it..

Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off)
